My mother-in-law's birthday is next month and she is also turning 60. She and my father-in-law are retired and living the good life - they've truly earned it. Right now, they are on a Mediterranean cruise enjoying an amazing vacation before their 4th grandchild is born next month.
It doesn't get much better than that.
But, last weekend, we were successful in surprising her with a birthday celebration -
It was Joe's idea, and then Denise did a fabulous job planning and hosting the party (all the while growing that sweet, aforementioned grandchild). Mom was completely surprised and that made it all the more fun.
Here are Denise, Matt, and Joe before the party. They couldn't wait to surprise their mom.
I'd be shocked, though, if anyone had more fun than these cousins! Oh, how they love each other! They played so sweetly together and my kids are so excited that baby Ryan is getting older (he turned 2 on Monday) and now he can talk and play with them. Abby said more than once that she really likes Tampa and thinks we should move there. I think cousin Ryan has a lot to do with that!
Here is Mom with her sisters. I've never seen a closer group of women. They are best friends and they sure know how to have fun!
Joanna and Christina (Matt's cousins) had so much fun with the kids - especially Abby. And they were so nice to me and said such sweet things about the blog. It was really great to spend some time with them.
Me and my sweetie -
Here are some more party pictures -
Matt had a great idea for a tribute to mom. Denise, Matt, and Joe came up with a list of 20 things they love/appreciate about their mom. Each shared their 20 (totalling 60) with the group and it was a really sweet and emotional moment. I can't even imagine how wonderful it must have felt for her to be able to hear her children describe what a difference she has made in their lives.
Here are two parents who love their children immensely and have always put family first.
You can't ask for better role models than that.
